These beautiful gauntlets are courteously made for South Tower by Eric Dube. These gauntlets are part of the big high end "rental suit" he made for me a couple of years ago.  People kept falling in love with the whole armour but of course, I wouldn't sell it...its the rental! So they would wear the suit at their wedding, and as a souvenir they would pick up the gauntlets.  And I can certainly see why!  They are masterpieces of the armourer's art.  I asked Eric to make me a couple of extra gauntlets to put on my web site, and here they are.  Normally, I will have at least one pair of these gauntlets in stock at any given time.  click here to see the inside of these gauntlets.

Gloves
Training with swords is hard on the hands.  So, wear gloves...prevent blisters, prevent gouges from metal gauntlets, and armour bites.
The trick was to find cool fighting gloves which are not ridiculously expensive.  A good fighting glove should not have seams on the inside to raise blisters. It should be all leather.  They should last. They should be capable of being coloured.  They should be strong enough to sew leather and chainmail to the cuff portion.  I came up with welding gloves.   I tried several varieties of welding gloves which met my criteria.  I settled on some locally made gloves, made by the Superior Glove Factory in Acton, Ontario.

(a dis-arm like this one is hard on the hand!)

There are two main types of leather suitable for fighting gloves....I rejected sheep skin (too soft and delicate!) and cowhide (too stiff and heavy).  I settled on deer skin and goat skin. Top grain goat skin has got to be the favorite hands down for good fighing gloves!  Incredibly tough.  Amazingly supple.  Available in white only, so you can dye it any colour you choose.  Solid base for you to add a cuff if you desire to make yourself a pair of Batman gauntlet gloves.  And since it is from the factory, it is amazingly inexpensive.  But for true suppleness, the deerskin is amazing, butter soft, suede.  (Top grain is available at double the price.)  The split skin is surprisingly strong, luxurious to touch, and even after a season of fighting, it holds its shape.  The pic below is of my gloves even after a season of fighting...they look pretty good!

Note that there is a welder's logo on these gloves...I cover it with a  leather patch or just dye it, like in the picture.

. These gloves make excellent "Walking Out" gloves all on their own.  The deerskin gloves especially are attractive to actors because they look so good, they have nice high gauntlets which go back over the forearm, and they are so pleasant on the skin. The "gauntlet" part of the glove is the part which goes back over your wrist.  These are made from bottom split suede leather which takes dye really well, and forms a nice solid base for crests and studs.

The goatskin gloves are finished top grain, have a shorter "work glove" style gauntlet which fits under the steel a little better, and they stand up to wear and tear better than any of my work gloves!  The white surface takes dye well.  These are designed to be welding gloves, and are sewn with Kevlar right here in Ontario, Canada.  Both the goatskin and deerskin gloves make for stunning and inexpensive fighting gloves.

Bell Cuff'd Half Gauntlet

One of my top sellers, simple, robust, SCA legal, and inexpensive.  What more can you ask of an armour?  Making these as a sort of assembly line has resulted in lower prices this year!  Most people want the pair in order to ensure they get two that match, though of course you can get them separately.  Note, the price below is for two of them!  Once size fits most.
